Virtual Session Setup with Tab Audio Sharing for Video Conferencing

Overview

This guide explains how to set up virtual sessions with tab audio sharing capabilities across popular video conferencing platforms including Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and others. All platforms can be accessed through Chrome browser, allowing you to share audio content directly from browser tabs. This is particularly useful for therapy sessions, presentations, training sessions, or any scenario where you need to share audio content while in a video meeting.

Prerequisites

  • Google Chrome browser (latest version recommended) or other modern browser, works best on Chrome
  • Account for your chosen platform (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, etc.)
  • Stable internet connection
  • Microphone and speakers/headphones

  6. All audio playing on your computer will be captured for transcription

Preparing Audio Content

  1. Open your audio content in separate Chrome tabs before the meeting
  2. Test audio playback to ensure it works
  3. Right-click tabs to mute/unmute as needed
  4. Pin important audio tabs for quick access

Best Practices for Virtual Sessions

Audio Quality Optimisation

  • Close unnecessary tabs to reduce CPU usage
  • Test audio levels before the session begins
  • Keep the shared tab in focus for best performance

Managing Multiple Audio Sources

  • Mute your microphone when playing tab audio to avoid echo
  • Consider using headphones to prevent audio feedback

Troubleshooting Common Issues

No Audio from Shared Tab

  • Ensure Share tab audio checkbox is selected before sharing
  • Check that the tab isn't muted in Chrome
  • Verify system audio settings allow Chrome to output sound
  • Try refreshing the tab with audio content

Echo or Feedback

  • Use headphones instead of speakers
  • Lower the volume of the shared tab
  • Ensure your microphone isn't picking up speaker output
